Installing an Application Package with Mathematica 4

1.

Quit Mathematica if it is running. Insert the application CD.

2.

The application CD window will appear. Click Install application to a hard disk.

If the application CD window does not appear, the CD autorun feature might be disabled on your machine. To install the application, double-click the CD-ROM drive icon, open the PC folder, and double-click the AppInstaller icon.

3.

The “Welcome to AppInstaller” window appears. Click Next to continue.

4.

The installer attempts to detect all installed versions of Mathematica. Select the version of Mathematica in which to install the application, and click Browse to select another installation directory. Make sure the folder you are browsing to is not hidden.

If no Mathematica directory is detected, make sure Mathematica is installed on your machine. Install Mathematica if necessary. For information about installing Mathematica, see http://documents.wolfram.com/v4/index36.html.

If the installer still cannot detect your Mathematica directory, click Browse to select $TopDirectory\AddOns\Applications as the application package installation directory. Make sure that the folder you are browsing to is not hidden.

Click Next when you are ready to begin copying files.

5.

A screen appears when the installation is complete. Click OK to quit the installer. The application package is now installed and ready for use.

6.

Rebuild the Help Index by choosing Help > Rebuild Help Index the next time you start Mathematica. Help for the application will then appear in the Help Browser's Add-ons category.
