What are the Applications and Autoload Subdirectories of $AddOnsDirectory and $UserAddOnsDirectory?

Application packages can be installed in either the Applications (the default installation location) or Autoload subdirectory of $AddOnsDirectory or $UserAddOnsDirectory. Application packages installed in the Autoload subdirectory are automatically loaded when you start Mathematica. Application packages installed in the Applications subdirectory can be loaded manually when needed.

To autoload any application package, move the application package folder from the Applications subdirectory to the Autoload subdirectory of either $AddOnsDirectory or $UserAddOnsDirectory.

If you move any application package directories to the Autoload subdirectory of either $AddOnsDirectory or $UserAddOnsDirectory, those directories will need to be removed manually when you uninstall the application package. For information about uninstalling application packages, select “Uninstall my application package” on the Application Package Installation Request Form.
