How can I get Mathematica Link for Excel to work with Excel 2001 or Office 2001?

Excel 2001 refers to the standalone product and to the version of Excel packaged with Office 2001. Both are Excel version 9.

If you have previously tried to use the Excel 98 add-in with Excel 2001, Office 2001, then the Mathematica and M-Data toolbars should be removed and the Mathematica Link for Excel add-in should be unloaded from Excel 2001 before the Excel 2001 add-in is loaded.

To remove the Mathematica and M-Data toolbars and unload the Mathematica Link for Excel add-in, please do the following.
1.

Launch Excel.

2.

Select View > Toolbars > Customize from the Excel menu to open the Customize dialog.

3.

Select the Toolbars tab in the Customize dialog.

4.

Highlight the Mathematica toolbar and click the Delete button in the Customize dialog. Then, click OK in the Microsoft Excel dialog.

5.

Highlight the M-Data toolbar and click the Delete button in the Customize dialog. Then, click OK in the Microsoft Excel dialog.

6.

Quit Excel to unload the Mathematica Link for Excel add-in.

To load the Mathematica Link for Excel add-in for Excel 2001, Office 2001, please do the following.

Important: Do not use the Excel add-in manager to load the Mathematica Link for Excel add-in.

1.

Download the Excel 2001 add-in below.

5.

Locate MathematicaLinkForExcel:Excel2001:MLX.xla and then click Open.

If you have virus protection turned on, you will be informed that the add-in contains macros. This is normal. Be sure to enable these macros if you are prompted to do so.
