How do I install the NKS Explorer : Mathematica Kit with Mathematica 4.1 or Mathematica 4.0?

You will first need to determine in which directory to place NKS Explorer : Mathematica Kit. This can be done by evaluating the following command in Mathematica.

The last entry in the path given by the above command should be a Mathematica directory. Open the Mathematica directory, here there will be an Applications directory. Please take note of this file path as this will be where the package is installed.

The package can now be installed by doing the following:

1.

Quit Mathematica, and uninstall NKS Explorer : Mathematica Kit if it is already installed on your computer. For more information about uninstalling application packages, please see the following link:

http://support.wolfram.com/applicationpacks/Windows4141Uninstall.html

2.

Double click the Application Installer icon for the downloaded file. The "Welcome to AppInstaller" window should appear. Click Continue to go on.

3.

Double click the Application Installer icon for the downloaded file, and the "Welcome to AppInstaller" window should appear. Click Next to continue.

4.

Now, the default installation directory, which is displayed on the screen, should correspond to the directory given after evaluating $TopDirectory\AddOns\Applications. If you would like to install elsewhere, click Browse and make sure that the folder you are browsing to is not hidden. Click OK.

5.

Click Install when you are ready to begin copying files. After the installation is complete, a screen will appear stating so. Click OK to quit the installer.

6.

Open Mathematica and evaluate the following command in a notebook.

A fast loading .mx file will now be generated.

7.

Rebuild the Help Browser by going to the Help menu in Mathematica, and select Rebuild Help Index. The Help Browser will open once it has been rebuilt. Go to the Add-ons section, and there will be an entry for NKS Explorer.
