How can I correctly import negative Fortran-formatted numbers when using Import with the CSV option in Version 4.1?

In some instances, users have reported some difficulties when trying to import negative Fortran-formatted numbers into Mathematica®. If you are unable to properly import negative Fortran-formatted numbers, please download the following file.

http://support.wolfram.com/archive/mathematica/files/csvinit.m

Once you have downloaded this file to your hard drive, rename it init.m and place it in the location given by the following Mathematica command.

Please note that it will be necessary for you to create some of the folders in this path. Once the init.m is in place, it will be automatically loaded by the kernel when Mathematica is started.
