How do I import graphics from EPS format?

The notebook interface has the ability to open EPS files directly into a notebook, but this functionality does not always work correctly. You can also try the following steps to convert an EPS file into a Graphics expression for Unix and Windows systems.

Unix and Windows

You can use the software tool “pstoedit” to convert the EPS file into a DXF file.

Please note that the following patch is needed to run pstoedit with AladdinGhostscript 5.x.

http://packages.debian.org/stable/graphics/pstoedit.html

The DXF file can then be imported into Mathematica.

We do not know of any conversion utilities or packages that allow Mathematica to import EPS on the Macintosh.
