Why does the Mathematica kernel hang when I try to quit a MathLink program that is still being accessed by Mathematica?

This was found to happen only for Mathematica 3.0 running on Windows 95 OSR 1. The recommended fix for this problem is to either upgrade your Windows operating system to Windows 95 OSR 2 or later, or upgrade your version of Mathematica to 4.0 or later. (Please note that the minimum operating system version requirement for Mathematica 5.0 for Windows is Windows 98.)
