How do I install webMathematica?

Insert the webMathematica CD into your machine.

Find your CD's drive and look for the MSP.ZIP file.

Unzip the MSP.ZIP file into the Mathematica Application directory , which is usually in the following location:

C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\4.1\AddOns\Applications

You will need to edit your MSP.conf file in order to have webMathematica find your copy of Mathematica.

The MSP.conf file is normally located in:

C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\4.1\AddOns\Applications\MSP\Configuration

Delete MSP.conf and rename MSP.conf.nt to MSP.conf.

Edit MSP.conf with a text editor and modify the settings to point to your copy of Mathematica.

Find your CD drive and look for the WEBMATHEMATICA.ZIP file.

Unzip the WEBMATHEMATICA.ZIP file to Tomcat's webapps directory, which is usually C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\webapps.

You will now need to install J/Link into webMathematica.

JLink.jar and the SystemFiles directory are normally located in:

C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\4.1\AddOns\Jlink

The lib directory of webMathematica is normally located in:

C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\webapps\webMathematica\WEB-INF

Replace the webMathematica web.xml file with the web.xml.nt file from

http://support.wolfram.com/archive/webmathematica/tomcat40.html

You will need to edit the file name to web.xml.

The webMathematica web.xml file is normally located under:

C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\webapps\webMathematica\WEB-INF

Edit the web.xml file with a text editor to locate the MSP.conf file.

Verify that webMathematica has been installed correctly by going to your webMathematica homepage.

Start Tomcat, via the Start Menu

Go to one of the following webpages, http://localhost:8080/webMathematica/index.html or http://127.0.0.1:8080/webMathematica/index.html.

Run a webMathematica example.
