In order to access the graphical user interface for a Wolfram Enterprise Private Cloud (EPC) instance installed on Amazon Web Services, you need to configure the preinstalled VNC hosting application vncserver.

Configuring your VNC server

  1. SSH to your EPC instance.
  2. Run the command vncserver. This will start the VNC hosting software.
  3. If this is the first time you are using vncserver on this instance, you will be prompted to create and verify a password for connecting via VNC.

VNC is now configured on your virtual machine.

Finding the VNC’s port number

The port number through which the vncserver is accessible can be found with the following command:

grep -i listening ~/.vnc/*

A message similar to the following will appear:

Listening for VNC connections on all interface(s), port 5901

In this example, the VNC server is accessible via port 5901.
