Windows

Programs in Windows can be uninstalled in the Control Panel from the Start menu. To ensure that Mathematica is completely uninstalled on your computer, remove the following directories as well. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

Windows 7, 8, and Windows Vista

  • C:\ProgramData\Mathematica
  • C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mathematica

    • Here, <user> is your username.

Windows XP

  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Mathematica
  • C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mathematica
  • C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica

    • Here, <user> is your username.

These files may be hidden on your computer. You may need to enable your account to see hidden files.

Mac

To uninstall Mathematica, please remove the following directories. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

  • /Library/Mathematica/
  • ~/Library/Mathematica/
  • /Applications/Mathematica.app/

Linux

To uninstall Mathematica, please remove the following directories. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

  • /usr/share/Mathematica/
  • ~/.Mathematica/Licensing/mathpass
  • /usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/
