What is the difference between a button and a hyperlink?

The difference between a button and a hyperlink are the definitions for the ButtonStyle in the style sheet.

http://support.wolfram.com/mathematica/interface/buttons/buttonstyle.html

These differences in the style sheet definitions cause the different appearances and actions, but otherwise buttons and hyperlinks are the same.
