How do I get MacX to recognize the Mathematica fonts?

Here are the instructions for configuring MacX Version 1.5 to use the Mathematica fonts.

These instructions presume that you have installed Mathematica for UNIX systems in /usr/local/mathematica. If you have chosen a different directory, you will need to modify the file paths accordingly.

1. Download this folder and all of its contents onto your Macintosh in binary format.

   /usr/local/mathematica/SystemFiles/Fonts/X

2. Move this X folder into the Fonts folder of the MacX folder.

3. Start MacX.

4. From the Edit menu, select Fonts to open the window Set Default Font Path.

5. Click on the Font directory button, and then click on Add.

   

6. From the resulting dialog box, browse your way to the X directory, then click Select X.

   

7. Now you are back in the Set Default Font Path window. You should see the exact path to the X folder. Click this pathname to select it and then click the Update Font Directory.

   

   Now the MacX application will allow Mathematica for Unix to find the Mathematica fonts.
