How do I configure Mathematica to find the fonts on a non-Unix-based X server?

Every X server for Windows and Macintosh computers has facilities for making new fonts available for X applications. You should follow the instructions for your specific server.

All Mathematica 3.0 and 4.0 distributions for Unix include *.bdf fonts. You can download these fonts to your local PC.

For X servers that require the fonts in *.pcf format, please see the following page.
