How can I keep Mathematica 6 from crashing on Solaris?

We are receiving reports that the Front End flashes on screen momentarily and then immediately disappears. The only solution we have found for this is use the noTrueTypeFont option in the mathematica script.

mathematica -noTrueTypeFont
