How do I manually download the Mathematica fonts to a PostScript printer?
You can use Adobe's font downloading utility PCSEND.EXE (part of the Adobe Type Manager software package) to manually download the Mathematica fonts to your printer. If you don't have access to PCSEND.EXE, you may be able to use the free utility PSX.EXE.

Mathematica Versions 3.0.1 and 4.0 include stand-alone Type 1 versions of the fonts.
3.0\SystemFiles\Fonts\Type1\*.pfb
4.0\SystemFiles\Fonts\Type1\*.pfb
Users of earlier versions of Mathematica can obtain these fonts from the following URL.

These extra Type 1 fonts are not meant to be installed in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM\FONTS\ directory. Fully installable Type 1 versions of these fonts will be available as part of the Mathematica Font Kit, which is still in development.
Once you have downloaded the fonts to a PostScript printer, the fonts will work for any print job regardless of the type of computer sending it.
If you are printing to an Apple Laserwriter that has an Apple-formatted hard disk for storing fonts, you might find it easier to download the Macintosh version of the fonts.

If you are not using any special typesetting features, you might want to see the page on generating graphics that do not require the fonts.
