How do I change the default preferences directory?
 By default, Mathematica® creates its preferences directory in one of the directories below, depending on your platform. (If you’re using Mathematica 3.0, you can replace the 4.0 above with 3.0.) If you want to change this location, you’ll need to follow these steps on setting the MATHEMATICA_PREFERENCES variable. Note that under Mathematica 4.2, this variable has been renamed to MATHEMATICA_USERADDONS. For Windows 95 | 1. | Open the file in a text editor. This file is typically located on the root level of your boot drive (). |
