What version of Java is required for webMathematica 2.0?

Any Java Development Kit (JDK) that supports the Java2 standard is compatible with webMathematica 2.0. However, it is strongly recommended that you use a modern release of the JDK.

The most current version is JDK 1.4.2_01, which can be dowloaded from Sun at the following location. Note that the Jave Runtime Environment (JRE) is not sufficient, and that the full JDK is required. Both the Java2 Standard Edition (J2SE) and Java2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) are compatible.

On Mac OS X, Java2 version 1.3 is already installed, which is sufficient for use with webMathematica 2.0. Recent software updates for Mac OS X update this installation to version 1.4.1_01, which is also compatible.
