How do I uninstall the Wolfram Engine?

Windows

Programs in Windows can be uninstalled in Windows 10 and previous versions.

To ensure that the Wolfram Engine is completely uninstalled on your computer, remove the following directories as well. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

  • C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Wolfram Engine
  • C:\ProgramData\WolframEngine
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\WolframEngine

Here, <user> is your username.

If the Wolfram Engine is the only Wolfram Language product on your machine, also remove:

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Wolfram
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Wolfram

If you wish to uninstall WolframScript, also remove:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfram Research\WolframScript
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Wolfram\WolframScript

These files may be hidden on your computer. You may need to enable your account to see hidden files.
 

Mac

To uninstall the Wolfram Engine, please remove the following directories. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

  • /Applications/Wolfram\ Engine.app/
  • /Library/WolframEngine/
  • ~/Library/WolframEngine/

If the Wolfram Engine is the only Wolfram Language product on your machine, also remove:

  • ~/Library/Wolfram/
  • ~/Library/Caches/Wolfram/

If you wish to uninstall WolframScript, also remove:

  • /Applications/WolframScript.app
  • ~/Library/Application\ Support/Wolfram/WolframScript

These files may be hidden on your computer. To navigate to a hidden folder, open the Finder application. Press Command + Shift + G to open a file search dialog and enter, for example, “~/Library/WolframEngine/”. Finder opens the hidden folder.
 

Linux

To uninstall the Wolfram Engine, please remove the following directories. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

  • /usr/local/Wolfram/WolframEngine/
  • ~/.WolframEngine/

If the Wolfram Engine is the only Wolfram Language product on your machine, also remove:

  • ~/.Wolfram/
  • ~/.cache/Wolfram/

If you wish to uninstall WolframScript, also remove:

  • /opt/Wolfram/WolframScript/
  • ~/.config/Wolfram/WolframScript/
