Where does Mathematica 14.0 store its license information?

Mathematica stores its license information, consisting of the machine name, Machine ID, activation key and password, in a text file named “mathpass”.
You may need to locate your mathpass file in order to reset your Mathematica license by hand or look up any of the above licensing details.

Evaluate FilePrint[$PasswordFile]
to obtain the content of the mathpass file that this instance of Mathematica is referencing.
Where to Find the Mathpass File
In your respective operating system, please open your mathpass file using a basic text editor.
Windows
The mathpass file is at one of the three following locations:
- C:\ProgramData\Mathematica\Licensing\mathpass
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mathematica\Licensing\mathpass
- C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\Configuration\Licensing\mathpass
where <user> is your username on the computer.
You may need to adjust a setting to show hidden files.
macOS
The mathpass file is located at one of the following locations:
- /Library/Mathematica/Licensing/mathpass
- ~/Library/Mathematica/Licensing/mathpass
These files may be hidden on your computer. To navigate to a hidden folder, open the Finder application. Press Command + Shift + G to open a file search dialog and enter “~/Library/Mathematica/”. Finder opens the hidden folder.
Linux
The mathpass file is located at one of the following locations:
- /usr/share/Mathematica/Licensing/mathpass
- ~/.Mathematica/Licensing/mathpass
- /usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/Configuration/Licensing/mathpass
On Linux you may need to show hidden files using Control + H.
