How do I set up the Wolfram Engine on macOS?

Read this article in: Deutsch, Español, Français, 日本語, 한국어, Português, Русский

To run the Wolfram Engine on your macOS, you need to get a free license, install the Wolfram Engine and wolframscript, then activate the Wolfram Engine.

You need a Wolfram ID to activate the Wolfram Engine. If you do not have one already, you must create one.

If you are connecting to the internet via a proxy server, wolframscript needs suitable proxy information in order to be able to activate the Wolfram Engine. wolframscript uses the operating system’s proxy settings, which, for example, can be set by executing (in a terminal):

export https_proxy=https://your.proxy.server:port/

  2. In a web browser, visit https://www.wolfram.com/engine.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select the version that you want to download and click the red Start Download button. The Wolfram Engine installer will be downloaded to the default downloads folder for your browser, and the Thank You page appears.
