How do I uninstall Mathematica 14.0 and earlier versions?

The steps in this support article apply to Mathematica 14.0 and earlier versions.

Windows

Programs in Windows can be uninstalled in Apps & features.

To ensure that the Mathematica is completely uninstalled on your computer, remove the following directories as well. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

  • C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica
  • C:\ProgramData\Mathematica
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mathematica
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Wolfram
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mathematica
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Wolfram

Here, <user> is your username.

These folders may be hidden on your computer. You may need to enable your account to see hidden folders.

Note that the documentation needs to be uninstalled separately.

macOS

To uninstall the Wolfram application, please remove the following directories. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

  • /Applications/Mathematica.app
  • /Library/Mathematica
  • ~/Library/Mathematica
  • ~/Library/Wolfram
  • ~/Library/Caches/Wolfram

These folders may be hidden on your computer. To navigate to a hidden folder, open the Finder application. Press Command + Shift + G to open a file search dialog and enter, for example, “~/Library/Wolfram/”. Finder opens the hidden folder.

Note that the documentation needs to be uninstalled separately.

Linux

To uninstall the Wolfram application, please remove the following directories. Please back up any documents that you want to keep from these directories:

  • /usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica
  • /usr/share/Mathematica
  • ~/.Mathematica
  • ~/.Wolfram
  • ~/.cache/Wolfram
