Why do I see a “Support Ending for Intel-based Apps” message when installing the Wolfram app on Apple silicon?

The Wolfram app, used by Mathematica, Wolfram|One, Wolfram Finance Platform and Wolfram|Alpha Notebook Edition, is a universal macOS application. It includes native Apple silicon support for Macs with M-series processors, as well as Intel-specific libraries for older Intel-based Macs.

On a Mac with Apple silicon, macOS may display a warning titled “Support Ending for Intel-based Apps” because it detects those Intel-specific libraries. This warning does not mean that the Wolfram app is running under Rosetta or that Rosetta is required.

No additional actions are needed in order to fully use Mathematica or any of the other products contained in the Wolfram app; in particular, Apple Rosetta does not need to be installed.
