Mathematica’s Chat Notebooks and Wolfram Language LLM functions are served by Wolfram’s free Basic AI Access by default. They can be connected to other LLM service providers who will charge you in consistency with your accounts’ contract conditions. The supported LLM service providers include:
- Wolfram AI Access
- OpenAI
- Anthropic
- Google Gemini
- Cohere
- DeepSeek
- Groq
- Mistral AI
- Together AI
- xAI
- Ollama
- OpenRouter
To connect to a different LLM service provider, you need to open a Chat Notebook, click the chat icon and select the model:
- Start Mathematica.
- Navigate to the menu item File ► New ► Chat Notebook. A new Chat Notebook opens.
- Click the chat icon to the left of the blue-bordered chat box. A drop-down menu appears.
-
Select the desired LLM provider under Models.
-
Click “Connect for model list”. The WolframConnector window opens.
- Click the red “Go to (service provider)” button to create a new API key.
-
Copy the new API key and paste it into the API Key field in the WolframConnector dialog. Choose “Save this connection” if you would like to reuse this key in the future.
-
Click “Agree and continue” to proceed. The available models are listed on the flyout menu.
Select your desired model from the provider’s models list.
Please note that changing the model may incur additional costs from external services.
