  • About SSO

Single sign-on (SSO) is an authentication method that allows users to authenticate on multiple systems, applications or websites by using just one set of credentials (username/email and password). If you have enabled SSO for your site license, faculty, staff and students can sign in through your authentication system to access the following:

    • Wolfram products available at your organization
    • Wolfram websites that require sign in, such as:
      • Wolfram User Portal (to download desktop products, request activation keys for network products, etc.)
      • Wolfram Account (to view cloud product subscriptions, Wolfram Cloud Credit usage, etc.)
      • Wolfram Community (for peer-to-peer support and assistance)
      • Wolfram Cloud (to access the cloud version of products included in your site license, such as Wolfram | Online)
      • Wolfram|Alpha (to access Wolfram|Alpha Pro, if included in your site license)

SSO is available to organizations with an unlimited site license with open, campuswide access. For more information, view the requirements to add SSO access to a Wolfram product site license.

  • Providing Access to Wolfram Products through SSO

Individuals at your organization can access Wolfram products by using SSO to sign in to any Wolfram websites that require sign in.

When individuals sign in with SSO, they are automatically provisioned access to all SSO-enabled products included in your site license. Below are direct links to each of the SSO-enabled products currently offered by Wolfram. Please visit the Wolfram User Portal to check the list of products currently available through your site license, and contact us to add additional products.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Users may lose access to their files once they are unable to log in through your authorization system. To prevent this, please instruct your users to add a password to their Wolfram ID before they lose access at graduation or other departure from the organization. Product access won’t be extended, but they will be able to retrieve their files.

  • Network Products (Mathematica)

This section is for administrators supporting networked Wolfram products for groups of users on campus, physical computer labs, virtual computer labs or HPC clusters.

A network license permits a specified number of users to run the application concurrently on a network, making the product available to multiple users and machines. Wolfram product system administration in a network license environment involves setting up two separate components. First, the license manager, MathLM, is installed on the license server to handle the details of license activity. Second, the product is installed as a client of MathLM.

    1. Go to the Wolfram User Portal.
    2. When prompted to sign in, use your organizational email.
    3. Sign in with SSO.
      • If this is your first time signing in, you will be taken to your institution’s sign-in page. Follow the prompts to sign in through your authentication system.

If you have an existing Wolfram ID, you will also be prompted to link your organizational login to your Wolfram ID.
      • If you have signed in before, choose the option to sign in through your organization and follow the prompts to sign in through your authentication system.
    4. Under My Subscriptions > Wolfram (SSO) Site, click the link to request a network license key.
    5. You will be taken to an activation key request form. Complete and submit this form to obtain a network activation key for MathLM.
    6. Go to the Wolfram User Portal to download both MathLM (to be installed on the license server) and the product (to be installed on the client machines).

    7. Install and activate MathLM on your license server by following these instructions.
    8. Install the product on each of the client machines by following these instructions.
    9. When prompted to activate the product on the client machines, select “Other ways to activate” and follow these instructions to connect the product to MathLM.

    Technical Support

Support is available to any employee at your organization with installation or technical questions, and may be obtained through your local sales partner or directly from Wolfram Research. Installation support is available to students by email only.
